Is your fondness for books and magazines causing clutter? Keep your collection tidy and aesthetically pleasing with these 9 tips:
- Declutter your collection. Are there any books and magazines that no longer hold our interest? Donate or sell these.
- If you hesitate to get rid of a magazine because there was a great article or picture, consider pulling out these sections and creating a collection with categories, such as: recipes, décor, gardening, or financial tips and recycle the magazine.
- Research the demand for old magazines. Usually, any magazine that is out of circulation may have value due to its rarity.
- Organize your magazines in magazine file holders. You can use uniform colors or multicolor holders.
- Set up a central location for displaying your books and magazines and/or incorporate them into your home décor (on floating shelves along with other displayed items, or in baskets, bins, or crates).
- Create visual interest by adding decorative items, such as plants or pictures to your bookshelves to avoid clutter.
- Add height and dimension to eliminate the look of a flat pile of books and add interest to each bookshelf. You can display your magazines horizontally in certain locations.
- You can display your books by color, author, or genre to keep your collection organized and aesthetically pleasing.
- If you have the space, set up a cozy reading nook to display your collection.
No matter how you organize your book or magazine collection, create a way that brings you joy when you look at it.
